1. Applicant Details

Education grants are made at the Trustees' absolute discretion for children of school age in full-time education from reception class to first degree (or equivalent level skills course) and who are dependants of: a) necessitous clergy (stipendiary or not) licensed, or having permission to officiate, by the Bishops of Durham or Newcastle. b) retired clergy, licensed and serving in either of these dioceses at the time of their retirement. c) widows and widowers, still residing in the area, of clergy who were licensed or with permission to officiate as above and previously served in the area.

Awards will be based on the school year (Not age of children) at 1 October of the academic year, divided into 4 bands: 1. Reception class to year 6 (Key stages 0, 1 & 2) 2. Years 7 - 11 (key Stages 3 & 4) 3. Years 12 - 13 (Key Stage 5) 4. First degree or equivalent Skills Course at University or College

Education grants are available to clergy with a gross household income from all sources up to £62,620 in 2024 for the academic year 2024/25. Clergy over this limit may still apply for an award during each year of any dependant's attendance on a first degree or equivalent skills course if their gross household income is below £93,180 in 2024 for the academic year 2024/25.
